How a Call Goes
When you call, we ask where you're at and what the door is doing - won't open, makes a bang and drops, opener runs but the door doesn't move. That tells us what's on the truck before we leave Oswego. We route calls in the order they come in and by how far out they are, so a job in Boulder Hill two miles away and a job in Elburn fifteen miles out both get worked into the same day when we can manage it.

The region sits in a cold-climate band with real winter severity, which matters more than people expect. Steel torsion springs lose tension faster when they cycle through hard freezes every winter for twenty or thirty years, and opener logic boards in older units weren't built for the temperature swings we get here. On a house from the 1960s or 70s, a slow-closing door in January is often the spring losing its wind, not the opener failing.
On a 90s-built house, it's more often a sensor or a plastic gear inside the opener that's gone brittle from the cold. Knowing roughly when a neighborhood went up tells us what to expect before we even see the door.

House age varies more the further you get from Oswego, since some of these towns have older cores and newer subdivisions mixed together, so what's true for one street isn't always true two streets over. We're based in Oswego, and Yorkville is about 5 miles out, so yes, we take calls there regularly. We don't keep a crew or shop in Yorkville itself - every job is a truck driving out from Oswego - but the distance is short enough that it's a normal part of our route.
My house was built in the 1960s. Does that change what's wrong with my door?
Often, yes. Houses from that era are more likely to still have older extension-spring setups rather than torsion springs, and after decades of cold winters those springs are usually the first thing to weaken. If your door has slowed down or sags on one side, that's the first thing we check on a house that age.
