Where We Work
We're based at 1023 Station Dr in Oswego, and most of our calls come from right around here - Boulder Hill two miles east, Montgomery three miles out, Yorkville five miles down the road. We also get out to Sugar Grove, North Aurora, Plano, and the smaller towns further out like Big Rock and Kaneville, up to about a 15-18 mile ring that covers Sandwich, Lisle, Elburn, Newark, and Minooka.
We don't try to cover the whole Chicago suburbs. Staying close to home means we actually know what a spring job on a 1970s door in this area looks like versus one three towns over.
Across this stretch you've got 175,642 households and roughly 96,932 owner-occupied houses, which is a lot of garage doors built on a similar timeline. That matters more than it sounds like it should - parts, spring sizing, and opener mounts all track the era a house went up, not just its address.
The Short Version
Most of the houses we work on around here were built somewhere between 1958 and 2003, with the bulk of that stock - across all 32 named subdivisions and areas we see - going up in the 1980s and 90s. That's a torsion-spring, steel-panel, chain-drive-opener era for the most part, and it's what our trucks are stocked for day to day.
We're in a cold, severe-winter climate band here, which means steel doors take real thermal cycling every season - expansion and contraction on tracks and rollers, hardened lubricant, springs that lose tension faster than they would somewhere milder. Median household income in the service area runs around $109,064, and we price jobs assuming people want a door fixed right the first time, not the cheapest possible patch that fails again in January.
We do spring replacement, opener repair and install, track and roller work, panel replacement, and full door installs. That's the job. We don't dress it up as more than that.
What We Will Not Do
We won't tell you a door needs full replacement when a spring swap or a bent track fixes it - but we also won't keep patching a door that's past it. If your panels are rusted through or the door is old enough that parts are hard to source, we'll say so plainly instead of running up a repair bill on a door that's going to fail again in six months.
We don't do wood door refinishing or fabrication, and we don't handle gate operators or commercial rolling steel doors - if that's what you need, we'll tell you that up front rather than take the job and figure it out. We also won't quote a job sight unseen for anything beyond a basic spring call; garage doors vary too much house to house for that to be honest pricing.
We don't work outside the area listed above. If you're well past the 15-18 mile ring from Oswego, we're probably not your best call, and we'd rather say that than drive out for a job we can't service well afterward.
